While Corkcicle is an easy-to-use, and love, product, we know you’re bound to have a few questions. Here’s where we attempt to answer them. Should you have a more specific question you need answered, please feel free to contact us. All questions, and compliments, are welcomed.
Why should I even use Corkcicle?
Wines are delicate. Making your wine too cold could mask the vintner’s uniquely crafted complexities. Making it too warm and its subtle flavors may be overwhelmed by the alcohol. Corkcicle keeps wines at the ideal temperature without the messiness, and unreliablity, of an ice bucket. Besides all that, it’s just awesomely cool.
Will my Corkcicle chill a room-temp white?
Corkcicle will maintain chilled wines, but it’s not designed to chill a room-temp white to the desired temperature. Which is why you should always start with a chilled white wine.
How long should I freeze my Corkcicle?
We recommend you store it in your freezer (just not in the ice maker). But if you need to get it frozen, it will take around 90 minutes.
How long will my Corkcicle work its magic?
Depending on conditions, whether used inside or outside, Corkcicle can keep white wines at their ideal temperature for about 45 minutes and can cool reds in just 10.
How do I care for my Corkcicle?
Hand wash in warm, soapy water and dry before returning it to your freezer. Never put your Corkcicle in your dishwasher.
What is Corkcicle made from?
Corkcicle is made of BPA-free plastic and contains a non-toxic thermal gel*. However, if contents are accidentally ingested, please seek medical attention.
Isn't red wine supposed to be at "room" temperature?
False. Historically, wines have been stored in cellars in old breezy castles where the room temperature was quite a bit less than the average 72 degrees we keep our homes at today. So unless you're living in a breezy castle, your red wine needs to be chilled down a bit to bring out all the flavors available inside of that wine.
How do I use Corkcicle with red wine?
Simply open a room temperature red wine (approx. 72 degrees F), pour out a "teaser taste" of about 1.5 ounces and then insert the corkcicle for approximately 15 minutes. Voila! Your red wine should now be perfect.
Okay.... What’s a “teaser taste?”
This is the first glass of wine you pour out of your bottle to make room for your Corkcicle.
